Probably our biggest game of the season. 4000 Stoke fans travel to Sheff Wed today to face a huge 6 pointer. Win and we’re almost safe, lose and we could well be going down.

It’s a huge game, and one we cannot lose.

Schuey has gone with a back 3 and fully switched up the teams which he will rather live and die by.

Anything for three points for me, couldn’t care less about how we get them.

That lineup looks like he’s reverted to a back five ? Hmm, I’m guessing SS logic is to not lose this game, which is a must if we can’t win it.

0-0

We’ve been awful so far. I understand we need to nullify their areal threat considering how they’ve been winning games… but in doing so it feels like we have abandoned all our our attacking principles and just hitting it long which consequently plays into their system. We will never win if we don’t find some control of this game.

My stream went down but it sounded grim. Still, it’s another point. We have to throw everything at Plymouth now.
Much better in the second and deserved a point… first half set up was woeful though, unsure why we went that way. Today was a must not lose before it was anything else so I’ll take the point.

Whoever wins the Plymouth game stays up. Massive game. Plymouth will be well up for it considering the history with Schuey, they’ve sold out the away end already. We need one win from three which i still believe is well within our reach.

I think the bottom three now will be the ones heading down looking at all the fixtures remaining. We just need those crucial three points now to get us to that 50 mark. It could go down to the wire but i think we will do it… just.

I'm not sure it's that cut and dried. We aren't safe yet by a long shot.
Nobody have been relegated on 50 points. I know it might happen this year but we are one win away from being on that tally. We need one win and we have Plymouth, Southampton & Bristol to play.

Plymouth play us, Millwall & Hull in their final three. They need to win 1 to get to 51.

QPR have awful fixtures (Preston, Leeds & Cov). - They need to win 1 from the above to be on 50.

Huddersfield play Swansea, but then have to play Birmingham (somebody will have to drop points there), aswell as Ipswich. - They need to win 2 to get to 50.

Sheff W play Blackburn, WBA & Sunderland. Blackburn still need 1 point to stay up so you’d think they won’t want to lose. - They also need to win 2 to get to 50 points.

I of course would much rather be in a position of only needing to win one rather than two from the final three games. I can’t see Huddersfield or Sheff Wed doing that. They might, but in order to do so they have to beat teams around us.

Discarding all the above… we have to win against Plymouth otherwise it’s going to the final game. If we don’t take three points on Saturday we could well be down. It’ll certainly go to the final game that’s for sure. Plymouth are unfortunately in the exact same bracket as us.

It’s a strange season and very hard to predict who will do what. Leicester and Leeds are dropping points against lesser sides, Blackburns awful run in doesn’t seem to be a real problem, everyone at the bottom is capeable of picking up points against anyone else… and then there’s Stoke.

We seem able to battle and fight one week then fail to show any sort of desire or passion the week after. I really have no idea how we will perform from one game to the next and I’m not sure the manager does either.

I still think we will survive. Although today wasn’t great we did not lose and that is a valuable point gained but I am concerned that every other team at the bottom, besides Rotherham, has the ability to fight every game. We have fought, WBA was a great example but then you look at the Swansea game and wonder what was going on ?

I can’t even blame the manager. Rose and McNally look half decent some games and others they appear to be strangers. Burger was destined for the prem a couple of months ago now he’s gone to pieces, Laurent looks ok then looks crap, often in the same game and you can say the same for the others. Only Junho looks to be consistent. What’s a manager to do when players are so unpredictable ?

I was a season ticket holder for the holocaust season, we were bad but we tried, players did their best but just weren’t good enough. I could accept that but this lot have proved they can perform, they can compete, we do have some tidy players but they just don’t do it anywhere regularly enough. If those players turn up against Plymouth we will beat them, no question. But will they turn up ? Who knows… and that for me is the thing thing that makes me angry about this season. It should never have come to this and that lies with the players who wear our shirt, not their shirt, it’s ours the fans, it’s our club.

I really can’t wait for this season to end. It promised so much and delivered nothing. We will stay up, but only because there were three teams marginally worse than us. I certainly won’t be celebrating that on our final game of the season. I’ll slink away into the tunnel with a sigh…. much like I did last season 🙄
