    Opposition View - Manchester City

For this weeks mid week opposition view I popped over mancityfans.net to ask them the usual few questions. An interesting one this week with some mixed opinions. I will warn you there may be a few choice words knocking about in this one

It was difficult this week, most Man City forums for some reason don't let new users start posts until they have made x amount of posts, finally managed to get one to let me on

Thanks to everyone who took part and for the admin team for allowing me to make a post

    Hello from Potters-Online

    by Potters-Online » Sun Dec 18, 2011 2:01 pm

Hi everybody, Potters fan in peace here,

Looking forward to out game on Wednesday ? Hoping for a good game, were on a decent run but we are under no illusions, it's going to be a tough game ! You are going to win the title this year, I said it after the F.A cup final (Shudder) , that was the catalyst for you I think and it's hard to see past you having gold patches on your sleeves next season.

Anyway down to the reason I am here, I have just launched a brand new forum for Stoke fans called Potters-Online and we hope to do a regular opposition view feature.

If you wouldn't mind answering a few questions for me and I will pop back on later in the week to pick up the responses, Of course I will add a link to the forum in the post as well.

    1. How do you think Man City have done so far this season, and where do you think you will finish in the table ?

    2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ? <----- Daft Question im sure

    3. What are your feelings on the Carlos Tevez saga ??

    4. What are your views on Stoke City ?

    5. Where do you think we can finish in the table ?

    6. What is your score prediction ?

Thanks very much for taking the time to answer these few questions, I will be back later in the week to pick up the responses, in the mean time if any of you want to talk about the match with us, you are more than welcome, the site is brand new so it's a little quiet at the moment.

    1. How do you think Man City have done so far this season, and where do you think you will finish in the table ? We're doing better than I ever dared to hope, I just hope we have what it takes to carry it on in the second half of the season. If we finish outside of the top 2 I will be disappointed.

    2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ? <----- Daft Question im sure We have many but David Silva is the best player I have ever seen in a City shirt.

    3. What are your feelings on the Carlos Tevez saga ?? The club and manager have handled it really well. Tevez is a **** and shouldn't be allowed near our club ever again.

    4. What are your views on Stoke City ? Sorry but I hate them. They are the anti-football of the Premier League, I hate the long-throw tactics, it's FOOTball FFS. I am also not too keen on the Stoke fans, apart from Everton fans they must be the most paranoid in the league and always find a reason to boo an opposition player and seem to think the world is against them - Sorry, you did ask.

    5. Where do you think we can finish in the table ? I think you will finish in the top half, 7th or 8th. However, I hope you go down for the reasons given above.

    6. What is your score prediction ? We don't seem to be able to keep a clean sheet these days and I suspect you will score a goal from a long-throw! I'm going for 3-1 to the footballers ;o)

How do, welcome to the board.

I agree with your comment about the FA Cup being our catalyst to greater things, however I think the Semi Final was the turning point, Stoke faced a confident team in the final thanks to a prior result.

    1. I am over the moon with City so far and hope for 1st place, in reality I would be satisfied with top two as it would be an improvement on last seasons 3rd.

    2. David Silva is our best player, but as for star man, that seems to vary week by week, we are blessed with so many players who seem eager to contribute that we always seem to have somebody ready to take control.

    3. I think deep down we all knew we were signing a troubled player in Carlos Tevez, I myself fell in to the common trap of hoping he would change his ways and develop a long term love for our club, however he did a good job for us and now it is over, as far as I am concerned he is no longer a city player, I just hope the formalities of his deprature are finalised at the first possible opportunity.

    4. I feel Stoke are a good strong intelligent side who should never be underestimated, I feel that you should have signed Ba instead of Crouch. Crouch has made a habit of scoring at our place of late, although as I am sure you are aware that is not necessarily a good thing from his perspective?

    5. Top Half, i'd say between 7-10 as the teams above that are all very strong now.

    6. I'd say 3-1 our way, but I think that depends on how we react to the Chelsea result, we know Stoke will be strong so its all up to City to make sure we turn up in full force.

    1. How do you think Man City have done so far this season, and where do you think you will finish in the table ?
I'm speechless with the start we've made. We've played some unbelievable football. Fingers crossed we can do it. Outside top 3 is a disappointment

    2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ? <----- Daft Question im sure
Silva. The best player I've ever seen wearing a City shirt

    3. What are your feelings on the Carlos Tevez saga ??
Disgraceful behaviour from CT. the club has handled it well and soon he will be gone.

    4. What are your views on Stoke City ?
I don't want to upset you so I'm not going to say anything about the way you "play" football.
However apart from that I think you're OK. Britannia is a proper old school football ground and you do get a good atmosphere going

    5. Where do you think we can finish in the table ?
Yo ur style of play is effective to a certain extent and with good home form you can sneak into Europe again.

    6. What is your score prediction ?
The same as on May 14th 2011

    1. How do you think Man City have done so far this season, and where do you think you will finish in the table ?
Brilliant, better than I could hope for. I made a prediction of top three before the season started and I don't like to change things, though by the end of January we will have a clearer idea of where we will be.

    2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ? <----- Daft Question im sure
Silva without a doubt, our creative maestro - he's worth the ticket price on his own. Nasri is under orders to up his game and consistency so watch out for him too (if he plays) - Yaya is our midfield general and mr. ever-present, the ball tends to get channeled through him (possibly too much in my opinion bu that's another story), Micah is on fire right now so watch for him marauding down our right (assuming he is fit and available), then if the rest of the team fails to keep you lot back we have England's number one in the nets, the safest pair of hands in the Prem and one of the world's best keepers in his own right.

    3. What are your feelings on the Carlos Tevez saga ??
He's dead to me, I hope he doesn't set foot in England again. I don't care if he doesn't find another club he can stagnate in Argentina for the rest of his 'contract' (not that he understands the meaning of the word).

    4. What are your views on Stoke City ?
I have a bit of a soft spot for Stoke really, I like to see them doing well (when they're not playing us obviously). I thought Pulis did well in the summer to give you a squad with a bit of depth.

    5. Where do you think we can finish in the table ?
Top ten, other than the current 'big six' clubs I think you're up there with the rest.

    6. What is your score prediction ?
I don't do predictions, call me supersticious. I just hope we have a good game and come out on top.

    Crikey !!

Don't pull any punches will you

We get a lot of bad press but I watch us week in week out and we are evolving as a team, second half yesterday we played some brilliant FOOTBALL !!

There are no rules against using a long throw in, it's a form of attack for us so why shouldn't we use it ?

It wasn't to long ago we were both fighting for our lives in the 1st division and I don't remember Man City playing that much free flowing football in those days ! You've had an astronomical cash injection that has allowed you to play attractive football, fair play to you, you have some of the worlds best players at the Etihad these days, you should be playing good football.

We know we can't compete with you, the rags, Chelski and the likes so why shouldn't we try and level the playing field a little ??

As regards to our fans, how many other teams supporters would have stayed behind after loosing the FA cup final to Applaud the winning team collecting the trophy ? We boo the opposition not because we dislike them but because we have seen on numerous occasions we can get to a player, see Gareth Bale vs Spurs the other week and SWP vs yourselves in the 1st season we came up at the Brit !It's just another thing we do to try and level the playing field a little.

I've always liked Man City, I live in Cheshire these days so I have lots of mates who have season tickets anyone but the red shite from Salford, even they can admit that we aren't what the media perceive us to be.

    1. I think we will win the league barring injuries to our centre backs, in which case we have no chance in hell unless we sign one for backup in Jan. I don't think we'll neccessarily stay top all the way but we've had horrendous away fixtures so we should have an advantage in the run in.

    2. Silva has been our best player so far but there is still half a season to go.

    3. Tevez could have been a legend at City if he'd just behaved with the slightest decency. I would like us to screw him for every penny he's got . Unfortunately, the financial rules brought in by Platini to keep AC Milan etc at the top of the pile, mean we prefer to get money for him to show in the accounts, in order to balance out our recent spending.

    4. I admire Stoke as a club & I got on very well with Stoke fans I met at Wembley. I am not a fan of Tony Pulis or the way he plays football though. I don't mind goals scored from set pieces but imo, there should be more football played alongside it. Blackpool have shown that it's possible to get sides without household name footballers to pass the ball so there's no reason Stoke can't combine their set piece prowess with a bit more quality. Pulis chooses not to try. I was equally critical of Stuart Pearce at City for his style of play so it's not a slight on Stoke as a club, I just think too many British/Irish managers are happy to go down a simplistic, comfort zone route without trying to push their players further.

    5. I think Stoke can finish top half, not sure how high, poss get a Europa if their home form is strong BUT as I said to Stoke fans at Wembley; beware the Europa League if you get caught up in big games in the next stages. Stoke play a high energy game & the Europa can drain players or give players/managers an excuse for a dodgy performance at weekend. Then it can drain confidence. It almost cocked up our season last time. We have a huge squad but I'm still wary of it.

    6. 3-1.

It's clear you had to spend a season or two doing what needed to be done to survive in the Prem and that's understandable - there have been signs for a while now that you are evolving under Pulis and it's good to see, Stoke are a work in progress and can be proud of last season.

    Beeks

I used to hate Stoke..but after the Cup Final and the way you conducted yourself throughout the day was a credit to your football club

I wish you all the best and don't change the way you play

You might get shit for it but it works..they don't like it up em!

With a bit of wind behind you I reckon you'll be pushing for Europe again this season
