Thread: Opposition View - Aston Villa

For this festive opposition view I popped over to Aston Villa Fansite, Blog & Forum - Avillafan.com and put to them the usual set of questions.

Quite a short opposition view this week but thanks to all the villans that took time to answer

Looking forward to out game on Boxing Day ? Hoping for a good game !

Anyway down to the reason I am here, I have just launched a brand new forum for Stoke fans called Potters-Online and we hope to do a regular opposition view feature.

If you wouldn't mind answering a few questions for me and I will pop back on later in the week to pick up the responses, Of course I will add a link to the forum in the post as well.

1. How do you think Villa have done so far this season, and where do you think you will finish in the table ?

2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ?

3. What are your feelings on Alex Mcleish, is he the man for you ?

4. What are your views on Sky moving our game to a 19.45 kick off, I know it's upset a few up here !

5. What are your views on Stoke City ?

6. Where do you think we can finish in the table ?

7. What is your score prediction ?

1. How do you think Villa have done so far this season, and where do you think you will finish in the table ? Not a whole lot! We have had a very poor run of football as of late and our season till now has been a case of poor poor poor. We can hope for mid table cant we?

2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ?
Seems every match we have someone else putting in a good shfit for the Villa. If Nzogbia can keep up his good form from today I would have to say him. But based on things go far it has to be Gabby.

3. What are your feelings on Alex Mcleish, is he the man for you ?
If he continues with the defensive negative tactics than no he is not the man for the Villa. I think the match today (Arsenal) showed he can get it right and get the lads forward attacking so theiri s hope. But if cant keep going with that....then no thanks.

4. What are your views on Sky moving our game to a 19.45 kick off, I know it's upset a few up here !
Being a Canadian it does not affect me really just means I wont have to get up early to watch a match!

5. What are your views on Stoke City ?
Not the most flashy of clubs on the pitch but Pulis has done some good work their and you have the ability to give teams alot of headaches. I think being in Europe with hinder you a bit in the league though.

6. Where do you think we can finish in the table ?
11-8th

7. What is your score prediction
Well if we cant get our set piece defense sorted out it could be an interesting game..... If we keep on playing the positive football we saw today it could make things even more interesting. Taking that all in 2-2 draw, when do we get all 3 at stoke?

To date we haven't done to well,we have had a few positives but sadly they are few and far between. if we continue the trend I dont think we will finish above 15th.

2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ?
Has to be Gabby, that said Albrighton seems to be coming good and if N'Zogbia can continue to improve you may have a handful with those 3's pace.

3. What are your feelings on Alex Mcleish, is he the man for you ?
I have never liked him and not just because he came from across the city.He has proved in the past he doesn't have the cutting edge to be a premiership manager...So no he's not the man for us who can take us forward.

4. What are your views on Sky moving our game to a 19.45 kick off, I know it's upset a few up here !
Like Peever I live across the pond so that will mean a turkey curry for lunch then settle in to watch the game.

5. What are your views on Stoke City ?
I think they have suprised a few people, they seem like the Villa with their ups and downs, but Tony Pullis seems to get the best out of the players which is always a good thing. The players seem to rise to the occasion when its called for.

6. Where do you think we can finish in the table ?
realistically on current form (not counting the man city game) you should have no problems and should be a comfortable 9th or better.

7. What is your score prediction ?
depends on which Villa team shows up.....I think a draw is the most likely although you could squeak it from set pieces, but being realistic I think 1-1.

We've done average. A brilliant first few fixtures and imo we didn't take advantage and now we have to front up and aadmit we are in for yet another tough battling Christmas. I said 8th at the beginning but bearing in mind MON finished 11th in his first season 11th or 12th would be acceptable. For me personally though obviously I like to see higher, 9th/10th.

2. Who is your star man at the moment ? anyone we should watch out for ?
Erm...Albrighton has had a great last 2 games, when he's on form he's on fire but the one you have to look out for is Gabby. Pace, strength and has really grown this season. Bent can never be ruled out as he is a poacher...but atm don't put any bets on him scoring xD.

3. What are your feelings on Alex Mcleish, is he the man for you ?
Every manager should be given a lot of time at firstand I still stand by him because time is the best asset to have as a manager plus booing and being negative can only make the players perform worse imo. There is a twist though...we're shocking atm, we really need to start attacking teams. Christ this is a team with Bent, Gabby, Albrighton and Zog yet we're defending for most games but yes I'll give him time to sort this out.

Utter testicles! Sky are known for wrecking the game with their money and sponsors already but now they're taking the michael.

5. What are your views on Stoke City ?
Used to be ugly to watch, not so bad now though...we're currently uglier to watch put it that way! The sort of team you support if you're neutral for the underdog spirit and great voice from the fans. At home is where you're strongest imo, always rattle anybody there whether it's urinal or wigan no mates.

6. Where do you think we can finish in the table ?
At the beginning I said 9th but I'd now say 11th or 12th. Near us give or take really.

7. What is your score prediction ?
2-2though to be honest you could nick it like usual.
