Well in saying that I don't normally post much here is an understatement, I don't being from Crewe, and supporting Newcastle. But I thought I'd just put 'pen to paper' to say a big thank you to anyone that was at Manchester Piccadilly last Saturday morning on the way to Blackburn.
There may be one or two of you that were, so let me explain the big thanks.
The next door neighbour, who's 75, and just been diagnosed with stage 1 dementia, had booked to go see her son in Newcastle. Now she'd normally take the Avanti to Carlisle and then across to Newcastle. However with the storm, most of the avanti were cancelled, so she was told to get on the stopper to Piccadilly, then get the stopper to Preston, meaning a change of platforms etc.
On her arrival at Piccadilly, she made her way to the platform, assuming it's was 14, only to be met by a 'sea' of red and white.
As she made her way to the platform - she was asked where she was going and, here's the thank you bit - she was helped into the train, she's also a bit wobbly on her feet.
Her suitcase - as she was also going on holiday with her son, was lifted on to the train, she was then given a seat, and apparently from her husband, had a wonderful conversation with several fans before, either they got off before Preston or when the train arrived at Preston for her to change.
For those of you who are gentlemanly, please pass this story on - in the hope that someone says 'That was me' and here's a big thank you to you.
Regards
E.
