Cardiff vs Stoke - Match Day Thread - 24/2/24

I honestly think SS will be sacked before the next game
I don’t think it’ll happen. He’s in until the end of the season I’d imagine even if we drop. Only way he gets sacked soon is if Pulis coming out of retirement… there’s literally nobody out there to bring in.

It’s sad to say but I think that’s us relegated. We need to average over one point a game now minimum to have any chance of survival and with the fixtures coming up we won’t do it.

Sacking the manager won’t change anything. The blame lies with Neil and Martin who oversaw probably the worst transfer window for decades. How we didn’t sign defenders was unbelievable and now we are paying the price for it.

Sad to say but I think that’s the end.

Couldn’t agree more.

If we do drop, Coates is going to get it with protests, there’s no doubts about that.

I think we would be stupid to sack ss, he has a great record in league 1 and there is nobody that comes to mind who we could bring in but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sacked. the only positive you could take is that if we do go down we can use it as a reset and start from scratch as it is obviously much needed. We are no where near good enough to merit staying in the championship we don’t have the quality to stay up and I think a lot of fingers will be pointed at JC for the mismanagement the club has seen and ultimately put us in this position.

This unfortunately cannot go one , he has to go tonight as it’s clearly not working with him in charge

I’m not sure what the manager was on about during his Radio Stoke interview. ‘We won’t go down without a fight’… ? Well Mr Manager, we will go down because there is no fight !
Whose the guy on the oatcake who is SS cousin Fishlovesoatcakes or something like that , couldn’t get him off the oatcake when we appointed SS now the last couple of weeks he’s been the hide and seek champion

Can’t blame him to be fair, I think I’d be the same

I’m not sure sacking him would change much but I can’t hide from the fact he’s had a disastrous run of results since his arrival.

Thought he was brave to take the job tbh but double his money and a 3 year contract I don’t blame him

I don’t know where he goes from here as it’s a results business and he’s definitely in Mad Naths territory.Millwall twisted and got 3 points today with Harris ,how come shaw x isn’t coaching our defenders , the club is rotten to the core

Do we have any defenders that would respond to coaching ? For me Rose is probably the better of centre backs and he’s no more than average at best. McNally always seems to make an error and is very erratic and Wilmott seems to have taken several backward steps. Junior is still at Afcon and an imposter has arrived in his place and Thompson is a midfielder that could be anywhere on the pitch when an attack comes.

It’s an absolute mess and SS insists it’s still time to play attacking football which leaves us wide open when we lose the ball and a failure to score when we are at the other end.

It might be dull and tedious but for the remaining games we have to change our shape and our attacking intentions and just become hard to beat. Drop a misfiring forward and add Pearson to bolster the midfield and protect our fragile defence. 0-0 draws are chore to watch but a point is a point and if we can snatch the odd 1-0 win I’d take that and regroup in the summer.

I just can’t see it happening though. SS won’t change and our squad doesn’t have enough fighters in it. Unless there’s a miracle about to happen we really are doomed.

I thought we looked a bit more rigorous with five at the back, which I think we need to revert back to.

For me, what’s just as important right now is ensuring we keep a similar starting 11 and formation so they can actually learn it.

This leads us to a good question right now, what’s everyone’s formation and 11 for the rest of the season? Who are you going for with everyone fit?
