Stoke welcome Huddersfield to the Bet 365 stadium today for what no doubts feels like a 6 pointer. Stoke will be looking to continue from where they left off after a brilliant 2-0 win away at play-off chasing Hull.

Huddersfield are scrapping away but haven’t won in 5. You’d think today will set the trajectory of survival if Stoke win and a loss for Huddersfield will most likely cause most people to think they’re down.

For me, Stoke simply have to win. A point in this one isn’t good enough especially after the display at Hull. If we win today it really puts us in a good spot within the relegation battle with a tough game coming up against West Brom.

Score Prediction: 3-1 Stoke.

Still, on to today’s game. Huddersfield need to attack, so I’d make sure our defence is as solid as can be and protected by the return of Burger, while I’d expect our midfield to convert defence into a attack very quickly so we need to have runners streaming forward pulling Huddersfield all over the place to create our openings.

Clean sheet again for Stoke while at the other end we slot three away comfortably.

Agreed. Woeful first half showing considering the importance of the game.

Not good enough for me that. First half display was horrific with the second being better. We have to be winning those games though, they were genuinely awful and that isn’t saying anything positive about us.

We seem to find ourselves in certain positions that are positive from an attacking sense, but we never make the keeper work. Nobody pulls the trigger.

Good news is we are still five points clear with one less game to play.

Good opening ten mins then the rest of the first half was atrocious. Luckily Huddersfield weren’t very good or we would have been 3-0 down at half time.

Subs made a difference and we did get into dangerous positions but, as normal, we failed to do anything constructive at the critical moment.

Poor performance on the whole but if you can’t win then don’t lose, especially to a relegation rival. A win and a draw isn’t too shabby from our Easter program but should have been more.

I’ll be glad when this miserable season is over. It’s a sad affair when I’m just happy another games rolled by and we’re not in the bottom three.
