The biggest game of the season arrives this coming Saturday at 3pm for both Stoke & Plymouth. There’s no doubt this is one of stokes biggest games since dropping into the championship many years ago. With one point between the two teams and a manager who used to be in charge of the visitors, this one will no doubt have a whole load of emotion and nerves attached to it.

Most feel like a win for either team should secure survival as three points takes either team to that 50 point marker which has historically proven to keep teams safe.

2600 Plymouth fans are travelling up so all fans in attendance need to get the bet 365 is rocking to match the energy that will arrive.

I’m hoping for a Stoke win and I feel we have everything in our hands to deliver that. Let’s hope the players show the fight we have seen in glimpses and secure the three points so desperately needed.

Prediction & Hope:
3-1 Stoke.

It’s a massive game for us and a must win as far as I’m concerned. We do have enough in our camp to win this and Schu will know exactly how to play against them. The thing is, will he have a go at them or play for a draw again like Sheff Weds and, more worryingly, will our players turn up on the day ?

Not sure if Burger can play or not because of head injury protocol and I’ve no idea who will be in the starting eleven anyway, it’s anyone’s guess who the boss will pick.

The large following from Plymouth will easily be drowned out by a very raucous home crowd, roaring the Potters on to victory and Championship survival.

2-0 to Stoke, Ennis and Cundle to score… it just has to be… doesn’t it ?

The difficulty with Schuey knowing how to play them Dewsnip was Schueys PE teacher so he should definitely know how to play a Schuey side also!

Burger is fine, protocol for concussion is 5/6 days so he’s available to play from what I’ve read.

Schuey post match analysis from Sheff W seem to give them impression it’s a must win and we have to attack the game. He hasn’t ever said anything on the lead up he’s gone against really, the Sheff W game all he spoke about what standing up against the areal threat so I’d like to think he’s going to stick to his word.

I’m traveling up from Devon for the game and feeling the nerves for this one. With a family I married into full of argyle fans it’s all on the line for me 😳

We better turn up!

I can see what you mean about Dewsnip but I think although Dewsnip will know about Schu he won’t know about our players so much whereas our boss knows exactly individual player weaknesses in the Plymouth side. Probably won’t make much difference but I’m grabbing any bit of positivity I can find this week 😁

Sounds like your weekend will be interesting whatever the result. Good luck with that one mate 😂

I really do think we will win on Saturday… but then I always think that !

This is a big one for sure!

I went to Sheff Wed last Saturday and although the point was valuable, the first-half performance was concerning, we showed very little "fight" as a group.

We CAN NOT afford to start this game as we did last week, we have to be at it from the first to the last if we are then I think we take all three points and all but secure our spot in the league for next season... we don't and I really do fear we will finish in the relegation zone.

That said, me and the family will be there tomorrow willing the lads on with everything we have, once that whistle blows it's got to be a wall of noise to drag them over the line!

Stoke 2 Plymouth 1

Iverson

Hoover Mcnally Rose Stevens

Burger Thompson Baker

Manhoof Campbell Junho

Massive game. I’m setting off from Devon in the morning to be there! I really hope I’m not returning back here with anything other than three points, I’ll be full on down in the dumps if we don’t pick them up 😳

Well that was a really decent performance from everyone and a fully deserved three points. Junho is an incredibly talented player who will only get better for us. It feels strange actually enjoying a weekend for once 😁

Loads of knicker wetters on the oatcake saying we could still go down , more chance of Denise Coates giving me a bj
I would think that’s us fairly safe now but it’ll be nice when it becomes mathematically impossible. I wouldnt be surprised in the slightest if we get a point from Southampton next week, you just never know with Stoke.

It’s not been a great season for us but it’s been gripping to watch the Championship this season. So much to play for at both ends of the table at this point in the season is very unusual.

The Boro v Leeds was a cracking game game last night and they are both everything we are not
I’m prepared to give SS another season as this shower wernt his players so il keep my powder dry on him till he’s had a pre season and a full season

I didn’t see it but the result implies it was a good one.

I want to stick with SS too. He’s arrived and his first job was to keep us up which looks to have been successful. I like his attacking intent and given the right players I think we may come to actually enjoy watching Stoke again. Just like last nights sides, we may score a few but leave ourselves open to concede too but as long as we win the majority I’ll be happy with that.

I want Schuey to have next season. But I do also think it’s massively important to have realistic expectations of where we are as a club and want growth looks like.

This leaves us with a huge question. What does success look like under Schuey next season? Because if it’s promotion I personally think youre deluded 😂

We are a million miles away from promotion Shaun, most of us realise that I think. For me, a successful season next year would see us with a comfortable mid to top half finish, playing some attractive attacking football and with a team that at least has a solid spine.

I’m not even sure we are ready for the playoffs let alone an automatic spot so 7th to 14th I’d be happy with and I’d look upon that as good solid progress.

Completely agree. Unfortunately I don’t see similar in the fan base. I can imagine if we’re mid table half way through the season people will be calling for his head. The dreamer in me would love a late chance for play offs at the end of the season but I’d be over the moon with anything 14th and above as long as we look like a cohesive team. I guess everyone has ideas of what that looks like…

That’s where our some of our fan base become a problem. They think we deserve to be back in the Prem and anything less is failure. That thinking only creates tension and unrest between fans and puts unnecessary pressure on the team and manager.

I’d love to see us at the top end of the table but we are just so far away now it has to take time. Steady progress is the best way for long term success.

One of the things I do hope to see next season is for us to develop and build some sort of identity again, something we’ve sadly lost over the recent years. Something we can all get behind and be known for and expect week in week out.

So pleased we managed to pick up the 3 points in this one, the performance was a bonus!

Consistency is our next goal, we evidently have a team that on its day can take a team apart, we just need to work out how to do it more often.

That said I thought Plymouth were terrible all over the pitch.

JT was my MOTM but there were a few who run him close.
